Whether this apparently widespread species really is one species needs to be studied.〔 It grows to SL.〔 A study from the Upper Brahmaputra found ''Triplophysa stenura'' to be the most prevalent prey species for ''Oxygymnocypris stewartii'', a large predatory cyprinid.
